Ningbo Port Hit By Covid Lockdown

Ningbo Port Hit By Covid Lockdown

A recent COVID outbreak detected in Ningbo, which has since spread to Beilun, has pre-empted the latest round of lockdowns at the world’s largest port in overall tonnage terms and the third largest with regards to containers.

Shippers are urged to utilise alternative logistics channels to avoid bottlenecks while Port Ningbo adjusts berthing schedules to minimise congestion. In addition, closed loop management and green channels have been implemented to facilitate the movement of containers, however the lockdown is affecting vessel traffic with delays and a significant drop in available drivers being reported.

Given China’s continued zero-Covid policy, the lockdown is expected to continue as more infections occur.
