29 Jan Short-Term Planning Dominates 2026
The ever-evolving tariff policies of the Trump administration will continue to test supply chains in 2026. Whilst the Supreme Court decision regarding the legality of the tariffs is yet to be announced, the White House has already instituted numerous sector-specific duties and cemented others through various trade agreements.
Given the volatility and risk that surrounds the tariffs, businesses are changing their approach to trade and remain resistant to longer-term planning. Subsequently they are relying more heavily on short-term tactics to minimise the impact of tariffs such as frontloading cargo ahead of tariff implementation dates.
Furthermore, businesses are continually reevaluating supplier relationships, viability and visibility across their networks, as well as further diversifying or regionalising their supply chains.
