17 Jul Port Of Los Angeles Sees Drop In Imports
The Port of Los Angeles processed 717,000 container units, reflecting a 9% drop imports over May compared to the same period last year and 19% compared to April. Conversely, exports were also down by 5% in May, marking six consecutive months of declining exports.
Whilst it is typically expected that May trade volume is higher than April due to the approaching peak season, this decrease is attributable to the ongoing market uncertainty around tariffs which is impacting the traditional trade volumes of peak season and the holidays.
