29 Jan Pondus Weighing Device Now At DPW Brisbane
January marked the introduction of the Pondus Stand calibrated weighing device at DP World Brisbane terminal.
This innovative weighing device was first implemented in Australia back in January 2022 to more accurately verify and record the weight of shipping containers prior to vessel loading, for safety and regulatory compliance.
The Pondus Stand will ensure accurate container weight information is recorded prior to loading a vessel and will assist in maintaining a safe and efficient operation.
It is the shipper’ responsibility to ensure that the correct weight of the container is documented prior to it being loaded on a vessel and a “Weight Mis-Declaration Fee” will be applied to all laden import units that record an absolute weight variance greater than one metric tonne compared to its declared weight.
Customers will also have access to a certified weighing certificate confirming the weight discrepancy.
