New York-New Jersey Tops Up Port Volumes

The Port of New York and New Jersey has outperformed other US ports, handling 774,698 twenty-foot equivalent units in May, 2% less the same month a year ago, but 20% more than pre-pandemic May 2019. In addition, the port handled 3,729,611 TEUs, up 6.5% year on year, and 22.6% more than 2019, over the period January through to May.

Meanwhile, across the coast, the Port of Los Angeles saw volumes decrease by 5% year on year to 716,619 TEUs whilst the Port of Long Beach handled 639,160 TEUs, down 8.2% year on year.
