03 Jul European Ports Face Months of Congestion
Ports across Europe are expected to face months of disruption and congestion ahead due a combination of contributing factors such as ships arriving outside their berthing windows, industrial strikes and blockades, alliances reshuffling capacity, low water on the Rhine as well as Trump’s tariffs pause which saw shipping demand pulled forward.
Strong demand throughout this year has also compounded these issues, reflected in the total Asia-Europe volume which was up 9% year over year at 6.13 million TEUs for the first four months of 2025.
