16 Dec EU Sunflower Seed Harvest Third Lowest In A Decade
Sunflower seed production in the European Union (EU) is expected to be its third lowest volume in a decade in 2025, totalling just over 8.5M tonnes.
Predicted to exceed last year’s levels and averaging 18.0 decitonnes/ha, this year’s harvest was well below the long-term average of 20.1 decitonnes/ha.
Across the EU, Hungary appears to retain first place among the EU’s major sunflower producers for the second year running with a forecast harvest of nearly 1.8M tonnes, whilst Romania is close behind with 1.7M tonnes. Conversely, France’s has a projected of almost 1.5M tonnes, down 25,000 tonnes from last year.
