16 Dec UK Alcohol Duty Rises With Inflation
With alcohol duty set to rise with RPI inflation from 1 February 2026 across the United Kingdom, the alcohol beverages industry has expressed concern with this announcement.
According to industry feedback, a previous 3.65% rise resulted in a 7% decrease in reduced spirit revenue. This further increase is likely to place additional pressure on a sector that is already experiencing job losses, stalled investment and business closures.
The UK government has confirmed that small producer relief will also be uprated so eligible producers maintain their relative reductions.
