16 Dec APM Terminals To Build Container Terminal At Chittagong
APM is set to build and operate a $550 million container terminal – named the Laldia Container Terminal – at Chittagong Port, Bangladesh’s main cargo gateway, on a 30-year concession, with a provision to extend it further based on performance metrics.
This new container terminal will be fully designed, funded, constructed and operated by the investors: a “first-of-its-kind” model for the country’s port infrastructure.
It is also part of the Sustainable Green Framework Engagement between Denmark and Bangladesh, a bilateral collaboration that seeks to pave the way for green investment, sustainable economic relations and job creation.
With completion expected in 2030 this new terminal will enable the port over time to handle ships of up to 6,000TEU capacity compared with the current 2,800TEU tonnage limit, increasing both the capacity and operational efficiency of the port.
