16 Dec BNSF and CSX Launch Intermodal Service
BNSF Railway and CSX Transportation have partnered to launch service upgrades featuring new trains and faster transits from Southern California to the Ohio Valley and Northeast.
Nine lanes constitute these upgrades, including a new service from Southern California to Louisville and Philadelphia. The other seven pre-existing routes will see an average time saving in transit of nearly 32 hours. Trains will run five days per week, originating from BNSF’s Hobart terminal just outside of downtown Los Angeles.
These upgrades are expected to reduce transit times by hours and days. For example, Los Angeles to Columbus, Ohio will be 28 hours faster, Los Angeles to Newark (Kearny) will be 32 hours quicker and Los Angeles to Springfield, Massachusetts will be 52 hours shorter.
These new schedules aim to deliver a multitude of benefits, including quicker transit times, the shift of more truckload freight to rail as well as increased flexibility and optionality while delivering integrated service for freight moving across the USA.
