24 Nov Greece’s Olive Oil Recovery Mired By Challenges
Greek olive oil production is expected to remain below 200,000 tonnes this crop year amid a sharp decline due to ongoing drought conditions and damage from the olive fruit fly, both of which have impacted most of the country’s olive-oil producing regions.
Whilst 2023/24 saw a historically low national yield of approximately 120,000 tonnes of olive oil, 2024/25 saw a slight improvement with 250,000 tonnes. However, the nation’s producers have not experienced an abundant olive oil crop since the 2022/23 season, when over 330,000 tonnes of olive oil was produced domestically.
