12 Sep US Alcohol Exports To Canada Fall More Than 60%
U.S. exports of liquor and wine to Canada have plummeted by more than 60% in the first half of the year as Canadians boycott US alcohol.
Shipments of popular US-made whiskeys, rums, gins and other liquors through June to Canadian provinces was around $43.4 million, representing a 62% drop from the approximate $114 million during the same period last year.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario, which is responsible for the 688 stores licensed to sell alcohol in the country’s most populous province, is reporting zero sales of American goods, representing the obliteration of what was last year a $700 million industry.
Furthermore, according to federal trade statistics, wine exports have decreased approximately 67% and in California, the wineries belonging to the Golden State’s Wine Institute trade group have lost more than $173 million in export value in the first half of 2025.
