Australia Gains Grains Council Chair

Australia Gains Grains Council Chair

Australia has assumed the Chair of the International Grains Council (IGC). The IGC constitutes 29 countries and encourages transparency and international cooperation in global grains’ trading.

As Chair, Australia will lead discussions on global grain trade and explore issues such as promoting rules-based trade, removing barriers to trade, food security and sustainable agriculture.

Australia’s grains, oilseeds and pulses industry was worth an estimated $26 billion in 2024-25, and the grains sector has an important role to play in feeding the world.
